After having defined the aspects of pain in the small child (see "Ces enfants trop calmes"), Dr A. Gauvain-Piquard proposes, in this film, quidelines for the knowledgeable physical examination of the young child with pain. Pierre François' images show the slow, progressive approach to the child after establishment of an emotionally stable situation : observation and interaction from a distance, installation of a dialogue permitting self-evaluation with the aid of props adapted for age, search for body contact. The clinical examination completes and clarifies the preceding ovservations.
