In February 1998, a team of French archaeologists (Maison de l'Orient Méditerranéen - Lyon) started their 6th excavation project in Mahastan/Bangladesh. The researchers took turns to revive this big oblivion of Oriental India during more than 3 months. Founded in the 6th century BC, this antique capital of North Bengal had been an advanced site of the Indian world and had been considered as one of the most important Buddhist places. "Mahastan, the lost city" tells the adventure of these researchers whose everyday life consists of the rhythm between archaeological discoveries and unusual meetings that are evidences of the culture.
