This collection (card game, DVD, website) aims at:

- familiarising students new to chemistry with a number of chemical elements;
- giving them an opportunity discover the richness of Mendeleïev's periodic classification.

The DVD presents sequences that illustrate experimentally:

- the chemical and physical behaviour of three families (noble gases, alkalines and halogens);
- the striking developments of spectroscopy that led to identifying certain elements.

Other aspects are taken up during interviews:

- the birth of elements in the universe and the discovery of metals;
- use of certain elements in fields as varied as space, insulation, light and nanotechnology;
- health, evoked by the issue of radon in residential areas and of the role of various elements in the food trade.
