The story of Melanie is a fiction piece telling the story of a young woman suffering from major depression. Developed for a continuing medical education presentation, this fiction piece is separated and presented in eight video document parts that are integrated throughout the conference on interpersonal psychotherapy by Quebec Psychiatrist, Dr. Simon Patry.
The factors that contribute to Melanie's depression are exposed in the first video segment through various episodes in her life. In the following video documents, we evolve with Melanie through all the steps that lead her to remission: from her first clinical family Doctor consultation, to her efforts made to put into practice the concepts she learned in psychotherapy.
As a complement to the conference and video documents, the book "Guide to Interpersonal Psychotherapy", authored by Drs. Myrna C. Weissman, John C. Markowitz and Gerald L. Klerman, was translated and distributed to all Doctors present at the conference. Dr. Simon Patry was the scientific editor of this French language version.
