There was once a swamp, that no human had ever penetrated. And for good reason : it was totally inaccessible, located in the heart of an immense wetland on the border between Brazil and Guyana.
A small paradise of sorts, where life appeared to run its course in perfect harmony. A variety of inhabitants, astonishing and rare, had chosen to live there : birds, reptiles and plants found nowhere else on Earth. A type of sanctuary for rare species and certainly, the last sanctuary of the black caiman.
This swamp was soon to reveal its most intimate secrets.
At the head of a small group of scientists, Daniel Guiral, a researcher specialised in aquatic ecology, deciphers the survival strategies adopted by the inhabitants of this small paradise ; a world ruled by a most subtle equilibrium and relying on laws of extraordinary ingenuity.
