Algae were used for a very long time as food or fertilizer. We now draw from them all sorts of products used in food industries, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc,... For that, they are collected on the seaside or they are grown in marine farms. The most amazing of them are invisible to the naked eye: they are micro algae, able to manufacture dyes and even drugs.
