Today, more than a quarter of us are seriously preoccupied with what we have on our plate. The over-farming of crop land and industrialisation of the agri-food industry have depleted and polluted the natural resources of our planet. Pesticides, chemical fertilisers and meat and bone meal have contaminated our food and our health is no safer than the environment. However, a small tribe of indomitable “Gauls” still holds out against globalisation of the farming sector. Organic or biodynamic farmers and breeders, alternative local networks… all using different farming and distribution techniques. They respect flavours, people and nature and generate jobs and social bonds. Their success depends on us, the consumers. So what are we waiting for to support this innovative sector ?
