Since its inception, ADECA75 (organization of cancer screening in Paris) in addition to its mission of organizing cancer screening it has developed information and the awareness of the Parisian public to initiate their adherence to screening for breast and colorectal cancer. These actions were based on partnerships involving field population, health professionals and associations.
The context of Paris is particularly unfavorable to screening, people with very mixed socio-economic characteristics and numerous health professionals are often difficult to motivate. After an arduous launch in late 2007, the colorectal cancer screening participation has seen 20% of the target population (50-74 years) (INSEE participation 2009-2010). Dynamic is not yet sufficient to achieve the 50% participation set by the national campaign.
ADECA75 mounted a major public event on the forecourt of the Montparnasse on March 22-24 2011, "The Giant Colon in Paris". An inflatable 22-meter-shaped colon allowed the public to discover inflammatory diseases, polyps in 3D, the degeneration of a polyp to cancer, the development of cancer. It is in this dynamic part of the educational film "Question(s) colon?" Screening for colorectal cancer: to prolong the impact a specific action and respond to the lack of taking action.
