An in-depth investigation into the disaster President Obama described as an ecological september 11th. This film examines the causes and effects of the Louisiana oil spill from many different angles: the ecological, the human, the political and the economic, and goes beyond the usual finger pointing at BP. The result is a much broader perspective on the disaster, revealing fundamental problems with the American approach to the petrol industry. A crucial conflict of interest is revealed within the Department of the Interior’s Mineral Management Service. The very body in charge of monitoring safety and protecting the environment on the oil rigs, is also responsible for selling licenses to drillers, and for bringing in as much money as possible to the federal government.A refreshing approach which looks at the long term effects of the oil spill.
