ImagéSanté, International Health Film Festival in Liège, the only festival in this vein in Belgium, is organised by the “Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Liège” - Sart Tilman, the  “l'Université de Liège“ and the  “Département Santé & Qualité de Vie de la Province de Liège”.

The tenth edition of the Festival takes place from the 12th to the 17th of March 2012. In recent years the festival expanded: this year the festival lasts five days in comparison to its first edition in 1994 which lasted two days.  ImagéSanté appeals to a more and more increasing audience and provides useful information about health education and prevention.

Since 1994, the Festival provides a qualitative cinematographical programme, which is always visited by a numerous and eclectic audience. In recent years the Festival (the Festival takes place every second year) the organisers were glad that the event has had aroused interest in general practitioners, experts, paramedical milieu, students, the general public and adolescents.

In 1998, for the first time, the Festival integrated a live transmission of a surgical intervention.

In 2006, the transmission programme was prolonged from two to three days. Those operations are directly commented and the audience has the possibility to interact with the surgeons.

Since a couple of years, the live transmission of the surgical and medical intervention represents the centrepiece of the Festival. Since then, the act has been attracted a considerable audience to the operating theatre and to the consultation of the CHU.

In 2006, an Internet page was created to diffuse a cranial operation. This page facilitates a direct interaction with the surgeons and the audience in the auditorium.

Basically the presented films appeal to the general public, especially in the Education & Health Promotion, Health & Environment, State of Mind and the Job & Health domain.

Furthermore, to the attention of the secondary school students, the programme “Special Ecoles” was introduced. On the occasion of the last edition of the Festival almost 6.000 students assisted the transmission of the selected health education films and participated in various workshops.
