Surgical laparoscopy only reproduces routine procedures whose indications should not change. In abdominalpathology, there are no limits to technical feasability. Nevertheless, if numerous applications seem reasonable orpromising, some remain hazardous. Video film shows a summary of current possibilities.

This film presents a panel of indications in laparoscopic abdominal surgery. Several examples using established techniques will be shown, including cholecystectomy, gastrooesophageal reflux treatment according to Nissen, supraselective vagotomy, kystectomy for hepatic polycystic disease. Although indications for cancer surgery are still under study, benign intestinal resections can be performed safely. Other promising techniques are hernia treatment, surrenalectomy, splenectomy and gastroplasty.
