What if babies could be born without spending a single moment in their mother’s womb? Fifty years from now, science may be focusing its attention on artificial uteruses…
Parents of little Noah, who is suffering from a genetic disorder, a Swiss couple decides to conceive a child, but a very specific one. Conceived in vitro, the new baby should be compatible genetically with their sick son. And so, with the help of a genetic magic wand, little Elodie was born.
A year later, she gives some of her blood and bone marrow to her immunodeficient older brother. So at last, thanks to his little sister, Noah can get out of his sterile chamber.
Beginning in the 7th month of gestation, the baby's five senses become functional. Within the confinement of his womb-universe, the fetus embarks upon an amazing sensorial exploration. How does he perceive his world and ours? How does he prepare for the transition to the outside world? At birth, he will abruptly be exposed to a world of air and gravity, which has very little in common with the world of gestation. Does he retain any memories of the environment where he matured? How will he adapt, and what experiences will help him make the transition smoothly?
