Between science and mystery, the placebo effect is one of the strangest phenomena of medicine.
Viruses are associated with the most devastating illnesses and epidemics threatening all of humanity and thus have a horrifying image, but is it fair to simply brand them all with this face of evil? Some viruses do not provoke illnesses, so is there in fact another side to the beast? This entire film tells us how these micro-organisms, for so long simply unknown, have gradually revealed their incredible capacities, and this time for the greater good of humanity. Today we know that the world of viruses is closely linked to our evolution.
A century ago, science created an animal model which would allow it to explore the mysteries of the human brain. This model is the lab rat. Thanks to this rat, major advances have been made. On the neurosciences front, it is today at the centre of key questions: will it be possible to read into our brains? Will we one day manage to control our fears and emotions? Will we be able to control machines by thought or be controlled ourselves by remote control?
Jusqu'où peut-on remonter dans l'observation de la naissance de la vie ? L'idée même de raconter cette aventure intérieure en images paraît un défi insurmontable.
