In ‘A Deadly Dilemma’, three General Practitioners are followed during the preparations and the sequel to performing euthanasia on one of their patients. The film examines the paradox which is often experienced by doctors surrounding euthanasia; in rational terms, they consider it a reasonable option, yet they still feel resistance because killing someone is not a natural act for a doctor. Euthanasia confronts doctors with their own emotions, beliefs and their views on life and death. How do doctors cope emotionally with euthanasia? What impact does it have on their private lives?
Yves Prunier is general doctor, installed in Thonon-les-bains since 1981. Yves did not choose medicine, he fell in early: he is grandson and son of doctor. For this anticonformist and hyperactive character, to go to Mongolia to help the nomads could be done only by a small association: « Actions Mongolie ». As of the first days of mission, Yves makes locations for the next operations in emergency centers in Ulan-Bator. Even if it is not one of the main objectives of the association, Yves invests himself completely to come to assistance of the greatest number.
