It is also a true story.
The film is centered around the scene where a young boy named Joseph Meister becomes the first person to be vaccinated against rabies, turning Pasteur into a legend. We follow the life and discoveries of the great scientist, as he works alongside his wife Marie and other close collaborators. We relive the adventure-packed life of a man who was raised in the Napoleonic spirit, by an old-guard soldier father who taught him to never surrender.
What if there was a way of finding a vaccine agains bad habits ? Smoking for example. In this field, there is a rush going on to develop vaccines against various forms of dependencies. And not only smoking, but also cocaine, heroine or barbiturics. Matiere Grise has met the Swiss researcher who has filed a patent for a vaccine against dependencies. A doctor who may be able to tell his patient to finally say : "Yes, this time I really quit smoking!"
A team of Spanish doctors is now working in Manhiça, Mozambique on an uncommon type of research. They're seeking cures for diseases that affect mostly the poor in developing countries: malaria, AIDS, tuberculosis, etc.
